Audible.com fails

OK, Facebook done for the morning. Ooo, what’s that? An ad for an audiobook version of William Gibson’s Zero History. I’m reading at the moment. Yes, I will click on that. Hmm, it’s for a 14-day free trial of Audible.com. Hello, convenience. Yes, please use Amazon services and pull my account details over from Amazon to activate an Audible account.

They’ve given me a credit to use during the trial; cool. Search for “William Gibson”. What’s that? No Zero History? So why the ad?

Forget this, I’m canceling the account. I’m not keen on being drawn in on false pretenses and then getting a monthly charge for a service I’m not going to use. Account Management – Cancel Account. Why? Yes, I’m upset with you. Huh? You want me to call you in the states to cancel an account for being upset with you? So you can have a telemarketer use a conniving script to stop me? How’s that going to make things better? Back, choose another option. Ohhh, now you want to offer me a cheaper yearly account that’s not offered unless people are going to walk away. Nice move you slimey pricks. No, I really want to cancel. I’m out? For reals? Good. Sign out.

Hmm, bet it’s regionalisation, search for Gibson again. Oh, you do have Zero History after all. So I guess I can’t have it because I’m not in the states? Facebook knows where I am; why’d you even bother serving me an ad for a product I can’t buy?

Audible.com, you completely and utterly fail at good first impressions.
