Photohunt Honeycomb: A fun after-hours Alpaca-spotting game for conference attendees in Canberra
Here’s something you won’t see in most cities. Honeycomb the Alpaca has been spotted over the years being walked around Canberra neighbourhoods on foot and being ferried around town in the back of a Mazda 121. He visits nursing homes and hospices. He’s “like portable happiness”.
If you’re organising an event in Canberra that’ll have people coming from interstate and overseas, why not add a fun challenge for attendees that’ll have them looking at the national capital from a different perspective; have a prize for pictures of Honeycomb on Flickr tagged with the conference name too. Score one point for a picture of Honeycomb out & about and two if they manage to get a picture with Honeycomb, or maybe have a first-past-the-post competition. Judges would have to be able to verify the image on the camera, iPhone, whatever and then verify the date/time stamp and geotags on the Flickr upload to make sure it’s a legit image.

How’s the iSerenity?
The Kerrigans don’t have to head out to Bonnie Doon these days. They can have their own little calm-generators with them wherever they go, if they’ve got iPhones. Zen Bound and iBonsai provide less when so many want to overly-complicate your day with more.
Singstar Pop Edition for PS3
I haven’t yet seen it in local stores, but Sony’s latest blog post dated 23 April says it’s out now, so it should be appearing on shelves imminently. Here’s the track list:

Yazoo – Don’t Go
It looks like a good mix of power rock ballads, regular ballads and pop that should work well in Pass the Mic games. Unlike the last two band-specific releases (Abba & Queen), there doesn’t appear to be a PS2 version of this edition in the works. Will the vocal masses deem it worthy of a hardware upgrade?
I see a little silhouetto of a game – SingStar Queen
I reckon Sony’s on to something with these band specific SingStars. Clearly trying to widen the singalong’s repertoir to get new folk in that might’ve dismissed it as a toy for the Hot 30 crowd, they’ve gone for bands older groups will know intimately. Following-up from the Abba collection comes the prolific glam rockers Queen. It’s in Aussie stores next week, according to a footnote on Games On Net’s Coming Attractions post.

Keeping a couple of tracks exclusive to PS3 just might convince some punters to drop some of Uncle Kev’s $900 on the console. Would the lure of nostalgia parties be strong enough? What do you reckon?

Sure, you get some funny looks playing GH on the DS, but it’s fun and the track lists are good, so tell the haters where to go.
