Check back in 2011 to find out. It’s going to take 2 years to turn the old Fraser Court site into Kingston Place. Until then, today’s Amandas, Billys, Kimberlys, Janes and the rest of them will have to live elsewhere while breakfasting at Kingston Grind and lamenting the lack of Hoegaarden at Little Brussels.
Kingston Complex Clear To Go
Megan Doherty – The Canberra Times – 23 May 09
Construction of a $170 million residential complex on the former Fraser Court site in Kingston is expected to be underway by Christmas.
The 1.39ha site, which used to hold the Fraser Court public housing, has been cleared to make way for the Kingston Place development, it no longer going by its original name Stirato.
Colliers International ACT project marketing director Derek Whitcomb said 300 expressions of interest had so far been registered from potential buyers.
The complex, a collaboration between Macquarie Bank and Lynsolo, consists of 150 apartments and 27 larger luxury brownstone-style residences.
Mr Whitcomb said prices ranged from $500,000 for a one-bedroom plus study loft-style apartment to $2 million for a three-bedroom brownstone.
Canberra architect Roger Pegrum is designing the development. Construction is expected to take two years.
Mr Whitcomb said the land could have held well in excess of 200 units but the developers wanted to also include large areas of common open space.
The Fraser Court site was sold for $25.15 million.
